Congress: Give kids a chance

Children with untreatable cancers have fewer chances to be cured than adults. The problem is pharmaceutical companies rarely children.

Scientists tell us that the best chance of pharmaceutical companies finding new cures comes from combinations of new cancer medicines. Pharmaceutical companies have been developing many combinations for adults with cancer, but only a handful for children.

The Give Kids a Chance Act, HR 3433, would solve this problem by authorizing the FDA to direct companies to study their combinations in kids.  It would save children’s lives.  t

In addition, the Give Kids a Chance Act, HR 3433, includes the Creating Hope Reauthorization Act PRV , the Pediatric Innovations for Drugs Act, and the RARE Act.

The Give Kids a Chance Act has already been passed by the US House of Representatives. The Senate has not yet considered the its companion bill, S 2897. However, Congress can pass the Act into law in December by including the House version in the end-of-year appropriations package.
